Alternative World Cup FFL

Since we’ve not had time to run Simon’s FFL this year, I’m taking a spontaneous and minimal effort approach to World Cup Fantasy Football.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Iains-Panini-Sticker-World-Cup-Fantasy-Football/123979600973935

Buy a packet of Panini World Cup football stickers from your local newsagent (RRP £0.50). Rip ‘em open and find out the five players you got.

Post the players names, AND YOUR TEAM NAME, on the Wall of the Facebook page. Want to enter more than one team? Just buy another packet of stickers!! Yes it’s that easy! No managerial skills or statto knowledge required (sorry Simon).

Scores will be awarded based on Picklive points (http://football.picklive.com).

The top three teams at the end of the tournament will be reimbursed for their stickers, as well as receive a special mystery prize (i.e. it’s still a mystery to me what it will be!)

If you’re the kind of person I might suspect of cheating, please also post a photo of your five stickers. Since team selection is essentially random, entry will be open until midnight on Sunday night (13th June).

While you’re at it, follow us on Twitter.

The Prizes

I’ve been away counting the money and with 109 teams paid (£545), £60 spent on MoM mugs and £65 income from Amazon we have a prize pot of £550 - to be split as follows:

League Winner: £200 (Stu’s Super Saints)
2nd Place: £75
3rd Place: £25
As it was a joint 2nd then each team picks up £50 (Tullibody United and Jane’s Buddies)

Cup Winner: £100 (Jerry Hat Tricks)
Trophy Winner: £50 (Tullibody United)
Super 16s Winner: £100 (Tengo Un Burro Grande)

Cheques are ready and waiting for addresses (emails to simon@simonsffl.com) - Stuart and Jane, Denise will deliver these to you. Decided to dispense with the trophies this yr - it will take me an age to get round to it, and its less cash for you to spend on a Wii or Xbox 360

Well done all, and thanks for being part of it!

And its all over

Congratulations to our winner by some distance Stuart Ross. A terrific effort.

Sorry for delays, just back from holiday, the backlog of prizes will start winging their way out now and I’ll post the prize money details by the end of the week.

Unfortunately we wont be able to run a Euro 2008 comp this year, we’ve absolutely left it too late

The chat can wait

This post is purely to pay tribute to a hero who has passed today.

Tommy Burns, may you rest in peace.

Awards Special

Ok, so you reckon the award for most intermittent blog-style updates goes to us - graciously accepted! We’ve still been doing the points which is the important thing after all. As usual we dont have long, so….

Manager of the Month

A backlog has built with 4 prizes to announce:
January - Tullibody United
February - Sarah’s Stars
March - This is How I Roll!
April - Dublin Bhoy

So thats congratulations to Craig, Sarah, Gary and John Paul and the mugs are on their way(so I’ll be in touch to get addresses)

Ramping it up….
The Cup
In a very close final it was the Jerry Hat-Tricks who overcame Andy Loy’s Blue & White Army, well done to Jude Austin (again we’ll bein touch). In the Trophy it was less close with Tullibody United dishing out a very strong admonishment (thrashing just isnt PC….) to Danny’s Bhoys who could have been the youngest trophy winnners….

Super 16s information coming next………..over and out I have a Wednesday update to do dontcha know!
